This old country store is at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, in the village of, "Vesuvius". (No volcanoes in sight!) The old store is closed now, the writing on the front is gone, as are the old gas pumps. I painted it as it may have looked years ago. The little boy is "herding a gaggle of geese" up the road with a stick and a helpful hound. A farmer drives his team of Belgian draft horses and farm wagon laden with produce he grew. He will sell it to the store owner for resale to local folks.
The Bible Scripture on this scene is:
"Now in the seven plentiful years the ground brought forth abundantly. So he gathered up all the food of the seven years which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities; he laid up in every city the food of the fields which surrounded them."
