This old, "crank-style" fire truck is in a field where an arts and crafts show is held we usually attend. The owner, Mr. Graves, has a big farm, orchards, other old trucks and a lodge for visitors. The place is called, "Grave's Mountain Lodge", in Syria, Virginia. It's about ten miles southwest of Culpeper, Virginia, and maybe twenty five miles northwest of Charlottesville. Thousands of folks attend a spring, and two fall shows. There are always trail rides on horseback, hay rides, food and games, and many kinds of apples (at  the fall shows). The old fire truck had been sitting in that same spot since at least the 1940's, a local man told me. He knew because he walked past it on his way to elementary school! He said it hadn't changed much. The tires are still solid rubber! It looks like the truck was maybe a hose truck, as there are racks for hoses, or maybe they were for ladders? The inside was made of wood, including the seat. That's not in such good shape. Someone took out the old engine. The front grill is still there with the initials, "USA". Also, the crank is still there, waiting to go! The rock wall in the background was there since before the Civil War. The mountains in the distance are near Luray, VA, and are said to be among the oldest mountains on earth. The large oak trees are hundreds of years old. This is why I called this piece, "Relics", as there are so many in this one place.

The Bible Scripture title on this scene is:

"Oh, that I was in months past, as in the days when God watched over me; when His lamp shone upon my head, and when by His light I walked through darkness; just as I was in the days of my youth, when the friendly counsel of God  was over my tent; when the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were around me; when my steps were bathed with cream, and the rock poured out revers of oil for me! When I went out to the gate by the city, when I took my seat in the open square."

- Job 29: 2 - 7
