The "Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse" is located at the end of a long pier along the charming waterfront in Manteo, North Carolina. Manteo is a quaint town, and the site of the, "Lost Colony", from the first settlers to the "New World"! It is on Roanoke Island, between the Outer Banks, and the mainland. The original lighthouse was destroyed in a hurricane. The lighthouse has been totally re-built. It had been located further down the island originally. It is a "screw-type" of lighthouse. The actual light bulb is very small, but, with the reflector it shines for miles!
