This scene is actually just outside of our house! Until recently we had all those trees growing on our drain field for our septic tank.....not good! We had to have them cut down, the ground dug up, new drain lines put in. The roots had been growing since 1950 and were as big as trees themselves! But, I digress. We don't have any wolves anymore around here. They are from my imagination. However, I had to stand on my roof to sketch the trees, and it started to snow as I finished! There are six wolves in the scene, one is hard to spot. The owl in the tree is looking at a possible "lunch" of a squirrel in the hollow tree. The wolves are following tracks of deer in the snow. One of the wolves has found the scent and howls to the pack!
