Normally, I paint my oils on canvas from an actual scene. However, in this case, it's totally from a scene, "in my head"! As fish won't "pose" for an artist to paint them! A blue marlin leaps out of the water as he is caught by a fisherman in a fishing boat in the distance. Two remoras cling to the big fishe's body as it leaps. Remoras have a "suction-cup" head! They stick to a bigger fish until it feeds, then they detach and eat the scraps! They don't hurt the bigger fish in any way. I used to have a marine fish tank and had a remora in it. It was very tame, and used to let me feed and pet it. It stuck to the fish tank sides, unless it was eating goldfish I put in the water, or my smaller, expensive fish! Finally I had to give it away as it kept growning.....and eating!
The Bible Scripture on this painting is:
"And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them. They take up all of them with the angle (fishing pole, hook, and line), they catch them in their net, and gather them (the fish), in their drag (nets): therefore they (the fishermen) rejoice and are glad."
