One bitter-cold day in November, Sonny and I were scouting for deer off of an old logging road in the mountains near our home. It was late in the afternoon, and the mist rose from the creek nearby. As the sun was setting a golden glow covered everything. When a buck Whitetail deer is persuing a doe, he will usually allow her to crossover open areas before he does. This is not because he is a "gentleman"! Actually, it's because he wants to see if "something" is dangerous to him, and it will get her first! Anyhow, we never saw the actual deer, only the scene.
